The largest bank in Israel, Bank Leumi, announced that it will start offering cryptocurrency trading services to customers from early 2027, becoming the first Israeli bank to announce such services. At that time, Leumi and its mobile bank Pepper's customers will be able to buy, hold, and sell BTC, ETH, and SOL through the Leumi Trade app.
Galaxy Digital will provide trading and related services through its GalaxyOne Institutional platform targeting banks and asset management institutions. Bank Leumi has also signed an agreement with Galaxy to use its digital asset custody infrastructure, formerly known as GK8, to support this business.
Bank Leumi's Strategic Manager, Maya Ravia, stated that digital assets are increasingly becoming an important part of the global financial system. Galaxy Israel CEO Lior Lamesh mentioned that banks entering this field early will help shape the direction of the financial system towards open and programmable infrastructure. The two parties have not yet disclosed the terms of their commercial agreement, transaction fees, and customer eligibility requirements.
