Ledger CTO Responds to 'Vulnerability' FUD: Issue Fixed Before Disclosure, Users Can Safely Use After Timely Update
  • ETH0%
  • FUD0%

BlockBeats News, August 27th. Ledger's Chief Technology Officer, Charles Guillemet, published a post stating that there has been recent "FUD" in the market regarding Ledger. A smart contract security company claimed to have found a vulnerability in Ledger's Ethereum app. Guillemet stated that indeed there was a vulnerability in Ledger's Ethereum app related to part of the Clear Signing process, but this vulnerability was discovered by Ledger's security research team, Donjon, through an AI-driven vulnerability research tool, and it was fixed and deployed two weeks ago. Users just need to update their Ledger device firmware and app promptly to stay protected.

The security company in question contacted Ledger about their bug bounty program only after Ledger had already fixed the issue, did not follow responsible disclosure procedures, and did not even communicate with Ledger's bug bounty team, yet later implied in their publication that the issue was still unresolved. This approach is not genuine security research but rather an attempt to spread panic for attention. AI is transforming the cybersecurity landscape, where both attackers and defenders can leverage AI to improve efficiency. AI-driven security research can only truly enhance the overall ecosystem's security when basic security principles such as responsible disclosure and pre-publication verification are followed.

Guillemet concluded by reminding Ledger users to keep their device firmware, Ledger app, and relevant software up to date to automatically receive the latest security fixes and research findings. Users need not be swayed by such "FUD"; simply update their software promptly and maintain good security practices.
