ChangXin Officially Announces LPDDR6 Mass Production, with a Peak Rate of 12,800Mbps and a Maximum Chip Capacity of 16GB

BlockBeats News, August 29th, Changxin Technology officially announced the mass production of its self-developed latest generation low-power consumption memory LPDDR6, which will be first integrated into the Xiaomi 18 Fold foldable flagship smartphone. It is reported that this is the first global commercial use of LPDDR6 products, marking the first time a Chinese storage company has broken the long-standing overseas manufacturers' monopoly on product launches in the high-end memory standard.

According to Changxin's semi-annual report, the performance of Changxin's LPDDR6 chip has seen a comprehensive improvement compared to the previous generation LPDDR5X: through architectural innovation and data transmission optimization technology, the data transmission potential is fully released, with a peak rate of 12800Mbps and a maximum chip capacity of 16GB.

LPDDR6 is the latest generation of LPDDR products internationally. In July 2025, the international standard organization JEDEC first released the LPDDR6 standard. In March of this year, there were already reports within the industry that Changxin's LPDDR6 products had been sent for testing. From aligning with the standard, product sampling, validation to mass production commercialization, Changxin eventually successfully achieved the global first launch of LPDDR6.

In the trend of explosive AI demand, LPDDR6 is seen as a key pillar for unleashing edge AI computing power. Its application scenarios cover devices such as smartphones, PCs, and extend to smart cabins, AI data centers, etc., laying a crucial foundation for domestic terminal manufacturers to seize the AI opportunity, including domestic smartphones.
