BlockBeats News, September 2nd, Solana Foundation Chair Lily Liu stated in a post that funds, assets, and ownership are migrating to the always-on internet infrastructure, forming a long-term "Token Supercycle." Tokenization is not only about moving assets onto the chain, but also transforming the assets themselves, allowing value to be issued, held, financed, and traded in a market that never sleeps.
She believes stablecoins have proven that funds can flow on-chain globally, financial institutions are driving asset securitization, blockchain infrastructure is beginning to meet the speed and cost requirements of real-world economic activities, and AI economic agents require programmable money. With these factors coming together, any value with clear ownership could be tokenized, gaining broader distribution, financing, and trading channels.
Over the past year, RWA transactions on Solana have reached a scale of several hundred billion dollars, covering the tokenization of U.S. Treasuries, stocks, and private credit; during the same period, stablecoin transfers exceeded $4.7 trillion. Liu stated that tokenization can also enable more investors to overcome geographical, minimum investment, and eligibility restrictions, allowing their held assets to be used as collateral or generate yield. Although the current on-chain market size is still much smaller than the traditional market, the relevant infrastructure could potentially reach the 5.5 billion global internet users in the future.
