BlockBeats News, September 2, Tether AI Research announced the launch of multiple sets of open-source AI translation models that can run directly on smartphones, laptops, and other edge devices, supporting offline translation without the need to upload user data to third-party clouds. Among them, TranslatePsy-AfriSLM supports 19 African languages, AfriNano supports 8, and EuroNano covers 9 European languages; the former covers languages spoken by about half of the African population.

Tether also introduced a new quality assessment filtering method that can remove up to 96% of low-quality open-source training data. The related models have been made available for open download on Hugging Face, and their research findings have also been accepted by the EMNLP 2026 conference.
