BlockBeats News, September 3rd, Microsoft (MSFT.O) announced that it will begin disclosing quarterly sales figures for its Azure cloud business, marking a departure from the company's long-standing practice of only reporting Azure revenue growth without disclosing specific income.
Microsoft stated that considering the scale and importance of Azure, it is an appropriate time to increase transparency. This adjustment represents Microsoft's first significant overhaul of its major financial reporting structure since 2015. Microsoft will merge its existing Intelligent Cloud and Productivity & Business Processes businesses into the "Agents & Infra" segment; while the More Personal Computing business will be realigned as the "Devices & Consumer" segment.
Microsoft noted that artificial intelligence is transforming how the company builds products and operates, blurring the lines between products and reshaping business models. The company previously disclosed that Azure's sales for the fiscal year ending in June exceeded $100 billion, up from $75 billion in the previous fiscal year, accounting for approximately 30% of Microsoft's total revenue. This new reporting structure will be formally implemented when Microsoft releases its first-quarter earnings for the 2027 fiscal year.
