BlockBeats News, August 8th, the latest software version 3.3.0 of the XRP Ledger (XRPL) introduced multiple upgrade proposals, among which the "Confidential Transfers" feature aims to provide higher privacy protection for institutional users, supporting encryption of token balances and transfer amounts while retaining visibility of account and token types.
This feature is mainly targeting Multi-Purpose Tokens (MPT) on the XRPL, and the intended use cases include tokenized financial assets such as funds and bonds. Through encryption technologies like zero-knowledge proofs, the network can verify transaction validity without revealing specific amounts.
According to CoinDesk, XRPL currently has around $13.8 billion in on-chain Real World Assets (RWA), including approximately $8.457 billion RLUSD. Apart from RLUSD, XRPL also has over $5.3 billion in tokenized assets involving issuers such as Ondo, VERT Capital, Archax, and Societe Generale.
In addition to Confidential Transfers, the XRPL 3.3.0 version also includes five proposals: Batch, Sponsor, Permission Delegation, Dynamic MPT, addressing institutional needs such as batch transactions, fee delegation, permission management, and dynamic adjustment of token properties.
However, these upgrades have not been officially launched and require continuous support from over 80% of trusted XRPL validator nodes for two weeks to activate. The market is watching whether institutions that have already issued assets on XRPL, such as Aviva and Ondo, will adopt this privacy feature in the future.
