BlockBeats News, June 3rd, 2026 – Microsoft's 2026 Build Conference kicked off in San Francisco with a new focus on a "Deployable and Governable AI Agent Platform." Microsoft introduced its proprietary MAI model family, covering capabilities such as reasoning, programming, image recognition, speech, and transcription. Among them, MAI-Thinking-1 is its flagship reasoning model. Microsoft Foundry received a major update, including new features such as Agent runtime, toolbox, memory, Enterprise Knowledge Retrieval Foundry IQ, Voice Live, assessment and governance tools, strengthening the Agent development pipeline from prototype to production deployment.
On the Windows front, Microsoft emphasized local AI as a developer platform focus. They launched more developer-friendly Windows configurations, an intelligent Shell/Terminal, Agent sandbox, WSL capability upgrades, and highlighted Foundry on Windows, enabling small models, Agent inference, and local coding models to run on the PC.
On the hardware side, Microsoft unveiled the Surface RTX Spark Dev Box for AI developers, equipped with the NVIDIA RTX Spark superchip, offering up to 1 petaflop of AI computing power and 128GB of unified memory for local operation, fine-tuning large models, and Agent workflows.
Furthermore, Microsoft also released the next-generation topology quantum chip, Majorana 2, stating that its quantum bits' reliability has increased by 1000 times compared to the previous generation, with an average lifespan of 20 seconds. They have advanced the timeline for achieving a scalable quantum computer to 2029. Microsoft Discovery has also been officially released for general availability, allowing research and engineering teams to accelerate development through AI Agents.
As of the latest publication, Microsoft's after-hours stock price has dropped by 0.65%, closing down 4.17% on Tuesday.
